Legacy of Light portrays a quiet, intimate moment: a father kindling the Chanukah flames beside his son, guiding small hands in an act that has illuminated Jewish homes for generations. The scene captures not only the physical passing of light, but the transmission of identity from one generation to the next.

The lighting of the Chanukah candles commemorates the miracle of enduring light—of faith that burned beyond all expectation. Kindled at nightfall and placed where they can be seen, the flames are meant to shine outward, affirming hope in times of darkness. In this way, the mitzvah reflects the Jewish calling to be a light among the nations, and spiritual presence in the world. Through the shared gesture of father and son, the painting emphasizes the sacred mitzvah of continuity, to pass on this important responsibility to our children.
